The Ardent Watchman

Quiet my life, so peaceful in the day
I watch below the city gates, the children are at play
And I smile through all the morning

At dark my life so viciously awakens
By ghouls and demons of the night my dreams are taken
And I sweat though all the night

Now the warning bell throughout is sounding
Oh, it rings, it screams, it aches my head with pounding
And I watch through all the morning

The coming doom echoes,  I hear its thundering cry
The footfalls of ten thousand soon arrive
And I sharpen my blade through all the night

The time for blood has come and they are screaming
The dieing fall before me, their bile I am spilling
And I slaughter till the morning

Cold my life, the widows cry their mourning
The crows they peck they peal from the abhorring
And I will bury dead through all the night
